India Art Festival – Mumbai 2018 : “Wabi-Sabi -The Beauty Of Imperfection” BY Aditi Agrawal
Artist Ms. Aditi Agrawal is one of very few artists in India whose work has been selected for exhibition at “House of Lords” in London. Her professional art journey began at the age of 14 only. Boosted by the majestic experience, blended well with her exceptional artworks and affection for art she came up with a whole new creative concept of “Art Socio – A Concept Art Gallery” in Ahmadabad with an aim of augmenting the art scenario in Ahmedabad.
Her art philosophy advocates fuss-free, straight forward approach. She works on acrylic and uses bold and confident strokes. Most of her artworks are inspired from mundane everyday events that play out in her own imagination in various ways. She is also highly influenced by serenity of nature.
Her art series “Wabi-Sabi -The Beauty of Imperfection” that she exhibited in the show, takes the viewers in a journey of visual exploration of the beauty of natural imperfection – unadulterated, untouched and raw. Its about search of beauty in the imperfections. Her theme was centered around the Buddhist philosophy of imperfections – Wabi Sabi.
In artist’s words, “My collection – Wabi Sabi – is the artistic depiction of my world, which i see differently. It is my perspective, put forth for world to see. My Wabis-Sabi is Nature in its purest, most untouched form. It is the tree that that don’t always grow straight, it is the branches that intertwine with each other, the Earth’s uneven crust, which no matter what you do, does not yield to become straight. Wabi Sabi is the flower which wishes to explode, spreading beauty, fragrance and color everywhere, it is the sunny golden beach where the weaves make strange patterns, where each wave tells a different story-each wave is a different shape”.
Her “The Sun Story” collection was inspired by everyday mundane things, that she looks at daily chores and everyday events as her art. The blazing sun, in all its power, energy and chaotic tranquillity inspired her to choose this theme. She is mesmerised by the play of colors, between sunrise and sunset. She used horizontal patterns in all her artworks.
“A DISCONNECTED INTERLACE” collection is inspired by artist’s self evolution. Each artwork is an echo of her… reflection of her journey, from the beginning till where she is today.
Every artwork has a unique story to say. So nicely she extracts the elements from the unseen aspects of the nature, which are common to our eyes but often ignored. The way she has treated those elements, takes the viewers in her world, through heightened visual-emotional drama. It was no doubt a well executed theme that proves her excellence.
