2021 Public Place : An Art Exhibition by Mr. Maredu Ramu
Mr. Maredu Ramu is a Hyderabad based highly accomplished artist whose work has been recognized by many prestigious art institutions around the world.
He has a keen interest in exploring his surroundings and transforming his imagination into mesmerizing pieces of art. His recent solo art exhibit at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai was another exemplary showcase of his talent.
Coming from an agricultural background, city life was a new world for him, where he witnessed urbanisation at the expense of the destruction of mother nature and the animal kingdom. He has always been fascinated by village life and the simplicity of the natural world that surrounds it.
His artworks offer a cinematic experience, taking viewers on a journey from a village to the urban landscapes of different cities he visited. The highrise buildings and sky kissing metro pillars, a woman walking the lonely road, Maredu Ramu skillfully captures the kaleidoscope of emotions of contemporary Indian cities. Some of his artworks were also social issues centric. One can clearly sense the emotions radiating through his artworks, how mankind has encroached the space of animal kingdoms and imbalanced nature to meet their concrete desires.
With a bold color palette, simple yet expressive strokes, and a keen eye for capturing aerial views, his artworks masterfully accentuate the subject, leaving a lasting impression. One of the captivating artwork was ‘Khadi,’ where he has depicted the journey of Indians and their modern-day adaptation of Gandhi ji ‘s ideologies.
