Graduate Talent Show – Supriti Shaha : School of Fashion Technology – Pune

Supriti Shaha showcased her graduating collection themed “LINEAR ALCHMEY”. The collection was inspired by the African Hausa tribe. 

The designer has meticulously applied the subtraction pattern cutting techniques (the technique where there is removal of fabrics and not the addition of fabrics). This removal creates space for the body, but also controls how the fabric falls around the body.

Drapes, layers, bright colours, volumes of the tribe’s costumes inspired the designer to create an all striped collection (from head to toe), with interventions of gold and accents (achieved through screen gold foil print) of colour blocking giving an extremely bold and intriguing look which is as contemporary in its outlook as much as it borrows from history and culture.

It was truly mesmerizing to see the collection by this young and enthusiastic designer.
