Mufti – Shirts – Spring Summer 2025 Trend Report

Editorial Note

Mufti’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection explores post-digital craftsmanship, where vintage tropical vernacular collides with abstract expressionism to create prints that feel both distressed and precisely engineered—a tactile rebellion against algorithmic perfection. The collection broadly spread across Casual and Club wear. The narrative unfolds through a laid-back yet statement-making lens, capturing vacation-ready ease infused with artistic depth. Painterly brushstrokes, impressionistic florals, and abstracted natural forms establish a soft-focus visual language that is fluid, modern, and quietly expressive. Traditional tropical and bohemian cues are reworked with graphic clarity, as grid distortions, amorphous inkblot effects, and Art Deco–inspired repeats introduce a contemporary edge. The overall mood is relaxed yet refined, balancing casual resort sensibilities with an elevated, design-led attitude. Imperfection, texture, and hand-rendered qualities underpin an organic sophistication, making the collection ideal for effortless day-to-evening transitions.

Silhouettes & Key Pieces

Silhouettes lean towards semi fitted, relaxed and, fluid forms, with visual impact driven by surface interest rather than structure. Short-sleeve shirts take centre stage, supported by a selective offering of full-sleeve styles. Hemlines feature both straight and subtly curved finishes, enhancing ease and movement. Key pieces include effortless resort collar shirts, clean full-sleeve and half sleeve basics, band-collar styles, all-over print shirts, striped options, and textured dobby and jacquard constructions shirts. Engineered placement-print shirts further elevate the offer, collectively reinforcing a sophisticated bohemian attitude defined by comfort, fluidity, and understated statement appeal.

Key Garment Constructional Details

Construction emphasizes comfort-led tailoring with predominantly clean, minimal finishes. Straight and curved hems, dropped shoulders, and a mix of classic, riviera, and band collars emerge as key design features. Sleeve length varies from mid bicep to elbow length. Detailing remains deliberately understated, with clean plackets, classic chest pocket including functional deco fabric chest pocket, visible buttons, and subtle stitch lines allowing prints and surface textures to take visual precedence.

Key Prints & Surface Direction

Prints evolve into a richly layered, expressive narrative where abstract botanicals dominate with a dark, moody contemporary lens. Large-scale, stylized florals and eucalyptus-like leaves are rendered through painterly, watercolor techniques—soft edges, tonal inflections, and diluted gradients replace sharp definition, lending an artistic, slightly vintage resonance. Multi-coloured resort-inspired botanicals intersect with expressive digital brushstrokes, forming collage-like compositions that feel fluid yet intentional. Structured patchwork grids, block repeats, and abstract rectangular brush-mark blocks sit alongside free-flowing, amorphous forms, creating tension between order and organic movement. Camouflage references are reimagined through deconstructed, oversized floral and leaf motifs, layered with blob-like shapes and distressed textures for depth. Fine-scale chevrons and zigzags echo ikat and woven twill traditions, reworked with modern precision. Crinkled, bubble-textured bases elevate tactility, transforming prints into immersive, surface-driven statements rather than flat graphics. Innovative dobbies and jacquards weaved designs emerge as a silent story teller. Plaid checks are clean, grid like wide open majorly woven but occasionally in a hand painted aesthetics. Bufaflo / chess board checks are present in monochrome and tonal multicolour designs.

Key Colors

The palette is anchored in refined neutrals—cream, beige, taupe, off-white, deep chocolate brown, and charcoal—establishing a calm yet elevated foundation. Saturated accents of turquoise, muted teal, navy, dusty mauve, eggplant, and mint introduce depth and contrast, while warm rust, terracotta, coral, and English carrot tones inject a subtle warmth. Soft pastels such as blush pink, peach, and washed aqua temper the darker grounds, creating a balanced, resort-ready harmony.

A sophisticated autumnal story emerges through deep eggplant and dark plum bases, offset with muted white, cool grey, and saturated teals and mint greens for a contemporary contrast. Two-tone, high-contrast combinations—soft peach or terracotta against off-white or cream—add graphic clarity, while warm rust and pink hues layered over neutral bases bring visual richness through tonal variation. Washed pastels on crisp white grounds feel fresh and feminine, sharpened by occasional darker accents for definition. Overall, the color story remains muted yet expressive, delivering a versatile, modern, and effortlessly stylish appeal.

Fabric Directions

Surface interest takes precedence. Textured bubble weaves, crinkled finishes, and dobby and jacquard constructions add depth and dimensionality to printed surfaces. Yarn-dyed and hand painted windowpanes and large-scale checks introduce a relaxed yet expressive, grid effect. Satin weaves, elevated through softener-washed finishes, along with lightweight woven stripes and textured dobby and jacquards, form the core fabric bases. Overall, fabrics remain tactile, breathable, and fluid, reinforcing the collection’s painterly aesthetic and artistic narrative. Key fibre compositions include cotton, polyester, viscose, lyocell, and linen, used both as standalone qualities and in considered blended combinations.
